Your décor scheme can be further accentuated by adding a pelmet to each made to measure curtain top. Classic or contemporary, well designed pelmets will provide a decorative edge to any room, giving attractive extra detail as a finishing touch.
Heat conservation with pelmets from Applewood Interiors
Not only do our pelmets give an added flair to a room but by their design, pelmets also help to conserve heat and so save you money in the long run. Your pelmet from Applewood Interiors will help to limit air flow, keeping cold air out and warm air in. So they are not only attractive but functional, ecological and economical.
Lambrequins were originally developed for draughty castles, to conserve heat. Whilst commissions for castle window dressings are not currently at a high level, we find that Lambrequins are becoming increasingly popular for another very practical purpose.
Lambrequins will decorate not only the top portion of a window but the sides as well. In this way they provide an excellent means for blocking out light penetration from the sides of your window blinds.
We are finding that we are taking an increasing number of Lambrequin orders for people who have trouble sleeping because of their light sensitivity. In a recent commission for a house in Chelsea, both the lady and her husband are light sensitive. She had tried many ideas, without complete success. We designed the Lambrequins for her, complemented with Roman blinds, and our happy couple now sleep like babies…!
In the right setting, and often used in combination with Roman blinds or wooden blinds, Lambrequins provide the perfect window treatment. Hard padded and upholstered, semi, or full-length scalloped and perfectly symmetrical in design, Lambrequins can add that true touch of class to your home.
Buttoned pelmets are a bespoke fitment and provide a highly impressive window adornment. In a recent commission, for a detached bungalow in Billericay, our client had seen buttoned pelmets in a magazine and having completed the refurbishment of her home, she decided that buttoned pelmets were the finishing touch.
In the creation of buttoned pelmets, specially made needles are required to sink the button into the foam. Each pelmet panel is produced separately and then the segments are brought together. This example comprised of six mid panels and two end panels, completed with Roman blinds beneath – the effect is stunning.
